SW 63 SE WENDRON PORKELLIS

4/395 Engine house at SW689336
-
II

Beam engine house. Circa early-mid C19. Granite ashlar bob wall, otherwise granite rubble with granite dressings. Rubble chimney with brick upper stage over a dressed granite collar.
Plan: Rectangular 1-room plan. Seems to have been converted to different use
(possibly a pair of houses) circa late C19 when the former studwork wall (2nd floor) over the bob wall was replaced with granite rubble and some new window openings were cut in the right-hand wall. Round-on-plan chimney adjoining behind rear left-hand corner. (Roofless). Lean-to at the left hand side.
Exterior: 3 storeys over basement. Original openings and some circa late C19
openings but some masonry fallen. Front (bob) wall has central round-headed opening. Right-hand side wall has pair of doorways at ground floor middle, original openings over and later openings to each floor on either side.
Interior: Machinery, floors and roof removed.
