SW 63 SE WENDRON PORKELLIS

4/397 Schoolroom, including road frontage
- walls and gate-piers

Schoolroom for Methodist chapel. Circa 1860s. Slurried rubble walls with granite
dressings. Scantle slate hipped roof. Cast-iron, ogee-section gutters.
Plan: Rectangular plan schoolroom plus later C19 lean-to behind the left-hand side.
Exterior: Single storey. Symmetrical 2 window south-east front with wide round-
headed central doorway. Original pair of 4-panel doors and traceried fanlight.
Circa early C20 windows in original openings: 2-light casements with small-paned
top-lights and horned sashes with glazing bars. All in original openings.
Interior not inspected.
Rubble walls enclose rectangular garden in front of schoolroom and continue as road
frontage walls to chapel grounds. Walls flanking chapel gateway have rock-faced
granite ashlar plinth. Square-on-plan granite monolithic gate-piers. Those to
chapel gateway have ramped pyramidal caps.
