Range of farm buildings including stables and cart sheds. Circa mid C19, with few
later alterations. Granite and slatestone rubble with granite dressings. Slate
roofs with ridge tiles and gable ends.
Plan: The buildings are arranged around a courtyard; the central range is at the
rear, with stables at ground floor and loft over. There is a 2-storey wing to right
and left, containing stabling and cart sheds, with loft over. Each wing is returned
at the front with a single storey cart shed, which is open-fronted facing the
courtyard. There is a central gateway at the front.
Exterior: 2 storeys; the main range is a symmetrical 7-bay front. At ground floor
there are alternating doors and windows, at first floor a central loading door, with
two 2-light 6-pane casements to right and left and a loading door at the outer end to
right and left. The wing to left is 2-storey, a symmetrical 5-bay front. There are
alternating doors and windows at ground floor, and at first floor a central loading
door with 2 similar casements to right and left. The wing to right is also 2-storey,
asymmetrical. Ground floor has 2 doors and 2 windows, with a cart entrance to right.
First floor has central loading door, with 2 similar casements to right, loading door
and casement to left. The single storey cart sheds at the front are open-fronted on
the courtyard side; each is of 4 bays, with chamfered granite piers dividing the
bays. The central gateway has plain granite piers. On the outer side of the farm
buildings at the right, there is an external stone stair leading to the loft. At the
front of each wing there is a doorway at ground floor and a loading door above.
