NY 52 NE LOWTHER LOWTHER

12/183 Low Moor

Farmhouse. Late C18 with later alterations and additions. Painted rendered
walls, under graduated greenslate roof with rendered chimney stacks. 2 storeys,
3 bays with left set-back 2-storey, single-bay extension and right
single-storey, single-bay extension. Central panelled door in painted stone
surround. 2-light flat stone-mullioned windows. Sash windows in painted stone
surrounds in extensions. See RCHM, Westmorland, 1936, p.161 and Transactions
Cumberland & Westmorland Antiquarian & Archaeological Society, new series lxxv,
pp.337 & 340, which illustrates a plan entitled "a sketch for farmhouse, etc.,
at Walkers Low Moor" on watermarked paper dated 1797.
