NY 33 SE MUNGRISDALE Mosedale

3/27 Middles' Farmhouse
and adjoining barn

Farmhouse and barn. Dated and inscribed G. & M.M. 1722 (George & Mary Marke);
barn dated 1805 over entrance. Roughcast walls with raised painted quoins to
right. Graduated greenslate roof with stone and yellow brick chimney stacks.
Barn of mixed slate and split-cobble rubble with rusticated sandstone quoins to
right. 2 storeys, 5 bays (originally 6 bays) with single-bay barn to right
under common roof. Off-centre plank door in painted stone surround with
inscribed frieze under open segmental pediment. Further door to extreme left in
painted stone surround. Flat cross-mullioned windows; those between entrances
have been joined by an additional central light. Round window over entrance and
blocked single-light window on upper floor. Barn has plank doors and loft in
alternate block sandstone surrounds. Segmental cart entrance in end wall has
dated keystone.
