4/62 Surgery Cottage
G.V. II
House, probably warden's house to almshouses. 1840. Stock brick
with ashlar dressings. Slate roof with stone coped gables and
kneelers and single ridge stack with 2 tall angle shafts. High
plinth. 2 storey, 4 bay front with right hand bay projecting
slightly with gable. Doorway to left with shallow triangular
head, chamfered ashlar surround and panelled door. Doorway
flanked by single, 3 light mullion windows. Doorway beyond to
right with triangular head, raised keystone and long panelled
door. Blocked opening to left with triangular head, raised
keystone and small sliding sash inserted. 2 narrow lights with
triangular heads each set in gable breaking through roof line
above. Pair of narrow lights to right with triangular heads and
plain sashes.
