GV II

2 houses, now public house. Late C18 with mid C19 alterations
to exterior. Rendered over brick and rubble with slate roofs
and rendered stacks. A corner building, facing S across the
Inner Harbour, with rear wings at right angles to main
single-depth range.
2 storeys and attic; 4-window front. The front to the quay has
2-light gabled dormers and mid/late C19 tripartite and
2/2-pane sashes; No.2 has C19 flush panel door flanked by
large 6-pane lights in pilaster surround with cornice; No.1
has a 4-panel flush C19 door under a transom light. The outer
end is gabled, and the corner hipped. Similar fenestration to
return elevations and to C19 rear wings to No.2.
INTERIOR of No.2 includes late C18 joinery with partitions,
chinoiserie balustrade to staircase and neo-classical style
chimneypieces.
This building is a very prominent item in the historic
streetscape, especially when viewed from across the Inner
Harbour.
