Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6778NE ST THOMAS STREET
873-1/23/345 (East side)
17/12/86 Nos.33, 34 AND 35

GV II

Commercial building, returning to St Alban Street at the
right. Mid C19. Painted Flemish bond brickwork, stucco
dressings, slate roofs.
3 storeys, 2+3+2 windows, and 3-window return to St Alban
Street. All margin-pane sashes in moulded architraves, and
sills on 2 small brackets. At first floor each has a floating
cornice on consoles, and the central window to No.34 has a
moulded pediment. Ground floor has late C20 shop fronts. The
return to St Alban Street is identical in the upper floors,
but retains a channelled ground floor, including corner
pilaster, one display window, a 3-pane light set high, and a
door. The moulded cornice and small blocking-course return,
and the outer end of the block has a gable with stack; there
are 2 further gable stacks on the main front.
INTERIOR not inspected.
This is a handsome building, unfortunately without its
original ground-floor detailing, but generously set out in
late classical mode, and well maintained externally.
