Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6778NE TRINITY ROAD
873-1/23/373 (South side)
18/06/70 No.5

GV II

House in row, with restaurant. Early C18. Rendered front,
rubble ground floor and brick first floor (RCHME), slate roof.
The ceiling pitch of this property is noticeably less than
that of the adjoining properties, and the steeper roof also
indicates its earlier provenance. The layout suggests that it
was originally 2 small houses.
2 storeys and attic, 2 windows; flat-roofed 2-light small-pane
casement dormers above 12-pane sashes in flush moulded boxes
at first floor. At ground floor is a C20 casement, and a fine
late C18 or early C19 flat-roofed square bay multi-pane shop
front plus a C20 glazed door under plain transom light set
back to the right, all under a moulded cornice. Far left is a
flush 6-panel, part glazed door under a deep wood lintel and a
slight flat hood on carved consoles. A deep plinth embraces
the bay window, and there is a large central ridge stack. The
back has one flat dormer, and a deep slated wing to the E
side.
INTERIOR not inspected.
This is an important earlier survival, with a particularly
fine display window. The former list records a corrugated
asbestos roof, and a 3-light casement to the ground floor.
