Pair of houses with extension, now separate dwelling, and basement flats: extension
is No lA, flat below No 1 is Friends House and flat below No 2 is September Cottage.
Early C19. Coursed herringbone-tooled and margined sandstone; pantiled roof with
stone dressings, rendered stacks. Each 3 storeys and basement, 1 wide bay. Doors
of 3 fancy panels, paired in centre, under bracketed flat hoods, with traces of
older gabled hoods behind. Flanking 16-pane sashes on ground and first floors;
later 9-pane sashes on top floor. Small basement windows. Flight of steps to
terrace in front of doors. Pent left extension of one storey and basement, has
modern door and 3 later C19 sashes, and is included for group value. Prominent
curved kneelers support gable copings; end stacks.
