4/48 Great Trewirgie Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C17 with C18 rear wing. Shale rubble, timber lintels, scantle and
asbestos slate roofs with brick and stone chimneys. T shaped plan. 2 storeys, 3
window east front. Door off centre to right with window over. Wide ground floor
window to left is 4 light 32 paned casement with shallow brick arch over. Window
to right is C20 in slightly narrower arched opening. Smaller first floor windows
are 2 paned sashes. Roof has brick gable chimney to left and hip to right. One
massive lateral stone stack survives over back wall towards north end but other one
towards south end survives as breast only. Right (north) end wall is cob and tithe
map shows east wing joined to this. Rear wing has stone dated 1727 under eaves to
right of door. Lean to at end of wing house well with granite trough. Interior has
much C18 detail including many 2 panel doors (some with HL hinges) and late C18 dog
leg stair. Cross passage of C17 part aligns with long wide passage along south
side of wing.
