Cottage. Probably C18, modernised circa 1970. Plastered cob, with or without stone
footings; cob or stone rubble stacks topped with C20 brick; thatch roof.
Plan: L-plan cottage. The main block faces south and has a 2-room plan. The left
(west) room has a rear lateral stack and the right room has a maybe secondary end
stack. 1-room plan rear block at right angles behind the right end.
2 storeys.
Exterior: nearly symmetrical 2-window front of C20 casements with glazing bars.
Central doorway contains a C20 door behind a contemporary gabled and thatch-roofed
porch. Roof is hipped both end.
Interior: has plain carpenty detail. Some old beams were introduced as
replacements circa 1970. Roof not inspected.
Knowle Cross Cottage is one of an attractive group of small thatch-roofed cottages
at Knowle Cross.
