of Southwood Farmhouse

Farmbuilding of unknown function. Probably C17. Stone rubble and cob ; corrugated
iron roof, gabled at ends.
Plan: Rectangular on plan with a door on the east side, facing the house, and a
flight of stone steps leading up to a loft door on the south end.
Exterior: Lofted farmbuilding. Doorway, approximately in centre on east side; 2-
light timber mullioned window to the left. Granite steps at left end up to loft
doorway.
Interior: The ground floor has a chamfered stopped crossbeam.
Roof: One C17 truss with principals with curved feet, collar mortised into
principals. A later roof structure has been added over the top.
An interesting C17 farmbuilding, group value with Southwood Farmhouse (q.v.) and 2
other C17 farmbuildings in the farmyard to the west.
