SX 76 NE BROADHEMPSTON
1/48 Barn approximately 10 metres to
- north-east of Younghouse Farmhouse
GV II
Bank barn. Circa late C18/early C19. Rubble walls with hipped slate roof.
Shippons on ground floor with threshing barn above approached from ground level at
rear.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical front with 4 doorways on ground floor and 2 windows towards
the left hand end alternating with the doors. Taller door at centre. Stone steps
to its right leading to first floor door. Window to either side of this door. The
left hand window is of 3-lights with square section mullions and iron stanchion
bars. 2 first floor loading doors to left. At right end is widened opening on
ground floor with corrugated iron infilling above. All original ground floor
openings have rough segmental stone arches above. Small outbuilding attached at
right hand end contains corn store and pig-sty.
