Table tomb, 4 yds from south wall of south aisle, in Church of St Guthlac

Table tomb. 1764. Ashlar. Table tomb having moulded plinth,
bowed at the ends, and modillioned cornice supporting a flat top,
on the sides are rectangular inscription panels flanked by
scrolled acanthus brackets, recording John Thorton d.1764. At
one end is a rococco urn with gadrooning, and knopped lid, at the
other a putto reclines on a skull and regards the sun.
