11/40 Pitfield Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C17, extensively enlarged during late C18 or early C19. Square
panelled timber-framing with painted brick infill on sandstone rubble plinth
and brick later additions; Welsh slate roof. L-plan with wings aligned south-
west/north-east and north-west/south-east; entrance in angle of L to north-
east front; lateral and axial stacks. Two storeys. North-east front: wing
to left with foward-projecting single-storey brick later addition with hipped
roof; canted bay window, pair of small 4-pane windows above doorway in
angle of L and lean-to porch, 6-panelled door. Gable end of wing to right
with 3-light casement window to both floors. Interior retains chamfered
ceiling beams with ogee stops.
