Formerly Old Guild Hall. Rebuilt 1713 with partly modern ground floor
of stone Doric columns and 4 flat arches. Upper part brick with stone
quoins and fine moulded stone cornice. Central niche with lead statue
of Queen Anne, flanked by 3 windows each side. Sash windows with glazing.
bars. Modern bank frontage. Roof not visible. Fine clock on carved
timber brackets, ddated 1713 projects over street and is a feature of
the High Street. Timber belfry with lead cupola at West end, crowned
by golden ball and weathercock.

The Old Market House, the Butter Cross and Nos 25 to 50 (consec) form
a group.
