SX 79 SE DREWSTEIGNTON CROCKERNWELL

6/87 Rambler Cottage

GV II

House, formerly 2 cottages. Probably mid C19, refurbished in early C20 when
cottages were united to a single house. Plastered cob and stone rubble; stone
rubble stack topped with C19 brick; thatch roof.
Plan: originally a pair of 1-room plan cottages set back from the road and facing
north-west. Each is a mirror plan of the other with doorways each end of the front
and a single rear lateral stack serves both fireplaces. 2 storeys.
Exterior: symmetrical overall 2-window front of early C20 horned 4-pane sashes and
either end is a contemporary 4-panel door. The tall roof is hipped each end with
only a short length of ridge between.
Interior contains C19 and C20 joinery detail.
