3/33 Little Wadham
-
- II
Farmhouse. Probably C17 and altered at left end probably in C18. Painted rendered
stone rubble and cob. Thatch roof with gable ends. Brick shaft to stone rubble
stack at left gable end, and large rendered stone rubble stack with bread oven
projection at right end.
Plan: consists of a larger heated room at each end, both of which have direct front
entrances, and an unheated middle room. Staircase runs up rear wall in right-hand
corner of right-hand room. The C17 plan has clearly been altered in the C18 and C20
and it is possible that at one time the farmhouse was in 2 occupations.
Exterior: 2 storeys. 5-window range. Irregular C19 fenestration principally intact
from left end, 3-light casement 3 panes per light, two 2-light casements, 2 panes
per light, 4-paned sash, and 2-light casement 4 panes per light. Ground floor has
2-light casement 3 panes per light to left of porch with corrugated iron lean-to
roof. Small 3-paned single light window and 2-light casement 3 panes per light to
left of C20 door and porch with hipped thatch roof. 2-light casement 6 panes per
light to right. Lean-to at left end and single storey outshut to rear right end
with slate roofs.
Interior: not inspected.
