Public house, now a private house. 1905 rebuild after partial
destruction by fire (Coote (1977)18), became a private house 1965-71
(ibid. 24). Plum brick with red dressings and red rubbed arches. Steep
slate roof. 2-storeys, basement and attics, 2 windows wide building
facing W on an acute angled corner site, with canted S end prominent in
street scene. Front symmetrical with 2 box dormers added on roofslope,
central plastered recess with 'THE WHITE HART' in decorative relief
lettering above central door with rectangular fanlight and 4 panels door
(renewed). 2 2-light transomed casement windows on 1st floor under same
flat gauged arches as central recess with small panes above the moulded
transoms and plastered reveals. 2 larger 3-light similar windows on
ground floor with acid etched decorative obscured glass panels in lower
lights. One recessed sash window to each floor on S end with 6/6 panes
and flat gauged arches. Included for group value.
