Threshing barn and wheel-house. Early-Mid C19. Coursed squared pink-grey grit-
stone, pantile roof with 2 or 3 eaves courses of stone slates. 7 bays with
polygonal wheel-house to rear of bays 5 and 6. Quoins. West side: tall seg-
mental-arched cart entrance with edge-tooled surround, byre door left with plain
surround, square window to right; pitching doors under eaves, bays 2 and 5.
Rear: central threshing door, byre door far left. Wheel-house has hipped roof
and rectangular openings under eaves. INTERIOR: Original roof structure sur-
vives, wheel-house machinery missing. Barn has 6 queen post trusses. The barn
stands on part of the site of the deserted village of High Cayton. Included for
group value.
