attached abutment walls
GV II
Railway bridge. c.1860. For the North Eastern Railway Company. Rock-
faced sandstone and cast iron railings. Single span, on the skew.
Sermicircular arch of shaped voussoirs with imposts. Moulded cornice and
plain parapet with sloped coping surmounted by horizontal railings.
Terminal piers with shallow pyramidal caps. Curving abutments form
retaining walls, raked up on downstream side.
