Milestone. c.1742 Wadesmill Turnpike Trust. Iron plate affixed
c.1804, possibly to design of McAdam. White freestone with cast iron
front plate. A low square pillar about 400mm square and 1/2m high, partly
buried. Segmental head to iron plate with raised edge bead. Raised
lettering with first word of inscription in an arc; 'LONDON 36/
BUNTINGFORD 5/ROYSTON 2'. London Road is the Roman Ermine Street.
