School-master's house, now post office. Circa 1850 by Revd. John Parker.
Regularly coursed and dressed sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings;
hipped graded slate roofs with carved stone finials. Gothic style.
In 2 sections with prominent porch to eastern part. 2 storeys. Original
fenestration: first floor has paired lancets with uncusped quatrefoils
above, those to long sides with gables piercing eaves. Chamfered 2-
light mullion windows to ground floor and narrow rectangular chamfered
windows to both floors. Main entrance through Gothic-panelled door under
porch. Ridge and valley stacks, main group of 4 with opposing octagonal
stone shafts and yellow brick shafts with chamfered corners, all with
moulded capping. Forms a picturesque group with The Old School (q.v.)
and enclosing wall (q.v.). B.o.E. p. 171.
