MARKET OVERTON

2/98 War memorial lychgate at,
and walls surrounding, Churchyard
of St. Peter and St. Paul

GV II

War memorial lychgate of c1922 and C19 walls. Lychgate of ashlar with
hipped Collyweston slate roof. An ashlar pier supports roof which has
open gable to front and rear. On inner face of each pier an oak wall
post supports gates and cusped barge board over. The pair of gates are
of oak with iron uprights, fleur-de-leys finals. On piers are inscriptions
to both World Wars with lists of names. This memorial was made and erected
by the men of the village. Surrounding the three sides of the churchyard
are coursed dry stone walls, part with stone coping.
