Houses, now divided into shops. C17 with C19 alterations. Part timber framed with
bri ck and whitewashed roughcast cladding; plain tiled roofs. Two storeys with
double gabled range to left. Truncated offset stacks to right of centre and to
front. One blind panel to each gable, one mullioned and transomed cross window
below to each, with label moulding over. Fixed glazing-bar shop windows across the
ground floor with pilaster strips to ends. Paired glazed doors under transom
lights to centre. One 3-light casement window to first floor right, fixed shop
window below with glazed door to right end in angled porch. These houses stand on
the site of the old castle ditch which was filled-in during the C16 and the land
sold for development.
