Coaching inn; hotel with shop incorporated. C18, with early C19 extensions,
and minor C20 changes. Walls of painted brickwork in Flemish bond, high plinth,
cambered ground-floor openings, 1st floor band. Hipped tile roof, moulded eaves
band and also brick dentil eaves, catslide to part of rear. The building has a
large L-shaped wing to the west side and rear, a carriage arch, and a main block
with a smaller rear wing; south front elevation of two storeys, 1.1.3 windows.
Victorian sashes, and also casements. Early C20 entrance with a large moulded
canopy, decorative architrave, and spreading steps with wrought-iron rails.
The yard at the rear exposes a varied set of vernacular structures, former
stables now garages and stores.
