SU 43 SW SPARSHOLT DEAN

1/17 Dean House

House. Late C19. Brick, slate roof. 3 bay by 2 bay C18 building with
rear service wing. Front 2 storey, 3 bay on plinth with mid-C19 full-height
bay added to left end. Central 6-panelled door half-glazed with arched fan-
light, panelled reveals and C20 Queen Anne style hood. In front 6 Portland
stone steps with iron handrails and turned timber newels. Each side 16-pane
sash with rubbed brick arch with Portland stone sill and awning for blind box.
On 1st floor 3 narrower similar sashes. Wide eaves and cast iron guttering
with lion head medallions, hipped roofs with symmetrical stacks behind ridge.
C19 bay has window on each floor and half-hipped roof. Inside ground floor
front room C18 interior of panelling and fireplace with Delft tiles.
