House. Early C17, restored mid-C20. Timber-framed, painted brick and
rendered infill, plain tiled roof. Two framed bays aligned east/west with
external chimneys at gable ends. Single storey and attic with dormers.
Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in
upper corners, collar and tie-beam trusses at gable ends, east end truss
having three struts to collar and king-post to apex, west end truss obscured
by chimney. South front elevation: windows are 2-light C20 casements with
semi-circular headed narrow lights; ground floor has five windows, blocked
doorway and C19 narrow stairlight; two gabled dormers with weatherboarded
cheeks. Lean-to additions at gabled ends, including probable bread oven
at west end; also attic lights at gable ends. Interior not inspected.
Main entrance now in large C20 extension to rear west bay. The house is
part of the former Bearcroft Estate.
