2/98 Barn 30m east of Rookery

Barn. Late C16. Timber framed and weatherboarded with a plaintiled roof. 4
bays; cart entrance in 2nd. bay from south, with a porch on the west side.
Full-height oak studs except in the north gable end where there is a middle
rail; some later alterations to the frame. The northernmost bay was once
floored over and used as stables; there is evidence for original diamond-
mullioned windows. Good intact roof with clasped and butt purlins and cranked
wind-bracing; there are queen-struts from the tie beams to the principal
rafters.
