Joicey Aged Miners' Homes,
front wall and railings.
12 Houses. Dated 1906. For the Durham Aged Miners' Homes Association. Yellow
brick with bands of red brick; roof of Welsh slate has decorated red ridge
tiles. Terrace with one house at each end having returned gable to street.
Rectangular fanlights over hardboard-covered doors which are grouped in
pairs, the end 2 being in the angle of the return. Each house has one
double sash window with projecting stone cill, central stone mullion and
stop-chamfered stone lintel. Row of turned wooden posts and brackets, on
low brick wall, supports full-length porch. Chimneys of yellow brick with
red brick cornice; 6 transverse gables to street have barge boards and
decorative timber with rendered infill. Low coped brick walls carrying
wrought iron railings enclose garden in front of house. Included for
