2/8 Barn and attached cottage,
10 m to north of Higher
Ashes Cottage

Laithe house, dated 1854. Hammer-dressed stone (watershot), stone slate roof.
2-storey single cell cottage has 2-light chamfered mullioned window to either
side of doorway. Over, one of 6 lights. Semi-circular arched cart entry bears
date on raised keystone and has chamfered jambs. Over is window with plain
stone surround. Mistal doorway to right hand end. Coped gables with kneelers.
The left hand gable has stack to ridge. A very late date for the use of
chamfered mullioned windows; contemporary with the rebuilding of north end of
west wing of Higher Ashes Farmhouse (q.v.) which it resembles.
