Part of villa, now part of terrace. Mid C19 villa, divided
1933. Stucco over brick, roof concealed behind parapet,
roughcast stacks. Plan: single-fronted. 3 storeys, 2 bays;
north front: bottle balustraded parapet, giant Ionic pilasters
on rusticated ground floor, window openings with rounded
corners to top, sash windows with one vertical glazing bar in
moulded surrounds with keystone, entrance to right with
sidelights of small roundel windows with stained glass,
fanlight and ornametal grill to panelled door. Wall fronting
road with square piers with recessed panels, wall with
segmental recesses, an unusual, slightly art deco, design,
presumably dating from 1933. Detailing similar to that of
Courtenay Towers (qv) abutting to east. South front: similar
balustrade, moulded strings, square-headed sash windows and
ground floor obscured by C20 greenhouse. Boundary wall:
coursed pebbles with cement humpbacked coping.
With Courtenay Towers (qv), this was formerly Hove Lea and is
shown as such on the 1875 OS map.
