GV II

Cottage. Late C16 or early C17 with late C19 and late C20 alterations
and additions. Timber framed, partly of cruck construction, with painted
brick nogging; partly rendered with painted imitation framing and partly
rebuilt in painted brick. Plain tile roof. Framing: large square panels
(2 from sole plate to wall plate) with short straight corner braces.
Baffle-entry plan of 2 framed bays. One storey and attic. 2 large
gabled eaves dormers with 2-light wooden casements. Central brick ridge
stack. 2-window front; 2-light wooden casements with weatherings.
Roughly central boarded door with gabled porch. Right-hand gable end
has collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts. Interior:
chamfered spine beams. Large open fireplace with chamfered lintel.
Foot of cruck truss visible in left-hand end wall (January 1986).
