House, now bookshop. Mid C18 with C19 alterations, C19 extensions to rear. Red/
brown brick with plain tiled roof obscured by later stone-coped parapets; rendered
extension to rear under hipped slate roof. Two storeys and attics over basement
on front range, single storey extensions to rear. Basement plinth below on front,
plat bands above ground and first floor with modillioned eaves cornice and angle
quoining. Ridge stacks to ends. Five-bay regular front with 6-pane attic sashes
under gauged-brick heads, 12-pane glazing-bar sash windows on the first floor,
some with old glass and four 12-pane windows on the ground floor. Central door with
4 fielded panels and 2 flush panels approached up two steps in deep panelled reveal
with fanlight over and impost mouldings on lintel. Roman Doric 2-column door
surround with open modillioned pediment over and wave decoration on column
pedestals. Single-storey extension to rear of square plan with large Tudor-Gothic
window on end wall of 4-lights under label moulding, each light under 4-centre arch
and with mullions composed of 3 thin shafts. Double casement doors to centre.
Interior:- some architrave mouldings to doorcases.
