SD4761NW PRIORY CHURCHYARD
1685-1/6/228 Monument approximately 19 metres
west of tower of Priory Church of St
Mary

Tomb chest and effigy. Mid C19. Marble on a sandstone plinth,
with cast-iron railings. Rectangular tomb chest with clasping
pilasters, with the effigy of a young woman in a flowing gown,
half-reclining and resting her head on her right hand.
Originally surrounded by cast-iron railings, of which only 2
sides remain in damaged condition, with colonnette standards
at the corners and railings decorated with cusped Gothic
arches. The inscription is now illegible, but the memorial is
said to be to Ann Rothwell, wife of William Talbot Rothwell of
Foxholes, Bay Horse.
