Large town house with later shop, part which is listed at No.6
(qv). Mid C18. Brick laid to Flemish bond with band between
upper floors and flat arches; steep asbestos slate roof with
hip on left; moulded cornice under projecting front eaves
cornice. Deep plan including deep rear wing at right-angles on
left; passage (formerly central doorway of whole house) on
right. 3 storeys; 3-window range with right-hand (originally
central) bay broken forward. Late C19 two-pane horned sashes.
Ground floor has large mid C20 three-light shop front with
arched lights and full-width hipped lean-to roof on wooden
brackets; house doorway on left; carriage doorway on right
with exposed timber frame partition on its right. Rear now
converted to shops but incorporating vaulted cellars; at rear
of passage is reset C15 traceried wooden window in
Perpendicular style. INTERIOR not inspected but likely to be
of interest.
