Two houses, now shops and offices. Early C19. Painted
Flemish-bond brick, pantile roof with brick stack to right
party wall. Nos 2A & 4 are 2-unit plan with rear outshut to
the left, No.2 is double-depth plan. 2 storeys; Nos 2A & 4 of
3-window range, No.2 is one-window range. Nos 2A & 4, to the
left, have C20 8/8 sash windows flanking a 6/6-pane sash to
the first floor; a C20 six-panel door below a painted-over
semicircular fanlight and a reeded keystone to a moulded
archivolt which has CRESCENT HOUSE painted on it. To the right
is flat arch with stepped stone voussoirs to a C20 8/8 sash
window and to the left is a C20 shopfront. No.2 to the right,
has a vertical joint to the left, flat gauged brick arches
with keystones to C20 8/8 sash windows on both floors to the
left and a C20 six-panel door to the right; right gable end
adjoins 10 Clare Street (qv) of same date. INTERIOR: altered.
