School, now community centre. 1908. Red brick with Welsh slate
hipped roof and brick wall stacks. Simple Jacobean style, with
various small blocks brought together. 3 and 4 storeys.
9-window range in all across front of mullion and transom
windows with canted bay in centre and recessed windows to
side, the 1st floor with pediments on consoles. To the sides
of the bay the 2-window sections are surmounted by gables with
corner stacks. This stack feature is repeated elsewhere on the
building. Entrances to sides. Pavilion roofs, 2 with miniature
lantern louvres. A plaque on the central bay records that this
was the 48th municipal school.
