GV II

Former farmhouse. Early C17. 2 storeys and attics; 3-cell plan. Timber-
framed, with rough C20 render; clay pantiles. An internal chimney-stack with
a plain red brick shaft. C20 casement windows and plank door. Frame in 6
bays, including a chimney-bay; now a lobby-entrance form, but previously
probably a cross-entry. Some good quality plain framing exposed inside:
moulded post-heads to the trusses. Main beams with chamfer and stepped stops
with bar. In the rear wall of the middle room, a blocked window with late C17
square moulded mullions replacing earlier mullions; also some 4-light and 5-
light original windows with diamond mullions in situ. The roof, in 6 bays
corresponding to wall bays, has clasped purlins, a lower row of unstepped butt
purlins, and the remains of arched windbraces. The house is awaiting
restoration.
