GV II

Town house with late shop. C17, front remodelled C18. Incised
stucco on timber-frame; steep asbestos slate roof with
modillion eaves cornice; rubble end stack on the left,
cast-iron ogee gutter. Fairly deep plan including rear wing at
right-angles. 3 storeys; regular 2-window range. Late C18 or
early C19 16-pane hornless sashes. Ground floor has altered
C19 shop front with doorway under left-hand windows. INTERIOR:
ground floor has original C17 chamfered hardwood ceiling
joists with tongue stops; mid C18 dog-leg staircase with
turned balusters. 2nd-floor room has original pine panelling
with small panels and moulded muntins and rails (only 1 side
of room visible at time of survey). Rear wing has 2 large
fireplaces to ground floor in former bakehouse and stone flags
to former rear passage.
