GV II

Villa. Early C19. Probably by Philip Sambell for Josephus
Ferris, developer. Render and stucco elevations, dry Delabole
slate roof with wide eaves hipped on the left, pierced clay
ridge tiles and brick end stacks on the right. Rectangular
double-depth plan with 2 reception rooms flanking a central
hall at the front, and a C20 wing behind left-hand side. 2
storeys; symmetrical 3-window west street front has wide
elliptical-arched central doorway with vermiculated
rustication, C20 glazed door, original fanlight. Probably
original hornless sashes with glazing bars under shallow
segmental arches: margin lights to ground floor, 16-pane to
1st floor. Left-hand return wall has remains of fluted
pilaster on the right. First floor has 3 windows in moulded
architraves, original 12-pane sash on the left and 2 blind
