Terrace of 4 houses. Late C19. Dressed stone brought to
course, granite dressings; dry Delabole slate roofs; some
patterned slates to steep roofs of towers; rendered axial
chimneys with original chimney pots; cast-iron ogee gutters
except on left. Symmetrical double-depth plan plus service
wing. French Renaissance/Baronial style. 2 storeys plus
attics. Symmetrical 1:1:1:1:2:2:1:1:1:1-bay east front has
panelled doors, mullioned windows with original sashes,
moulded hoods and cornices. The end houses are L-shaped with
3-storey towers over porches in the angles. Left-hand house
(mirror-image of right-hand house) has central 3-storey tower
porch, with steep roof over corbelled cornice, in the angle
between recessed bay, on the left, and projecting bay on the
right; porch has round-headed doorway; projecting bay has
canted ground-floor bay window with ironwork balcony, and roof
dormer set in ramped gable surmounted by triangular pediment.
Smaller middle houses have canted bay windows and flanking
doors set within 5-bay loggia with basket and round arches to
arcade surmounted by decorative iron balustrade; 2 central
first-floor bays break forward and are surmounted by canted
dormers with hipped roofs. INTERIORS: where inspected have
original plasterwork and joinery details.
