Pair of weavers' cottages, late C18 or early C19. Watershot coursed
sandstone facade, rubble sides and rear, with quoins, slate roof with
gable chimneys. Double pile 2-bay plan. 2½ storeys (including basement).
Symmetrical; coupled stone doorcases in centre; each cottage has one
window on ground and 1st floors, all with plain stone cases, (sashed at
No. 586, altered at No. 588), and partly blocked basement loomshop
windows (lugs for shutters remaining at No. 588). Rear has partly
blocked 3-light basement windows and basement doors; above, an oblong
window opening on each floor of each cottage (glazing altered) and small
modern bathroom windows near the corners.
