2 houses, built as a semi-detached pair. Early C19 with later
C19 and C20 ground floor additions. Gault brick, slate roof. U
plan including additions. 2 storeys, basements.
W front elevation: No.2 has C19 cast-iron spear headed
railings. First floor 4 window range, ground floor 3 windows,
centre one blocked, outer front doorways. All windows sashes
with glazing bars, 3x4 panes, some old glass remains. Doorways
recessed, semicircular over-lights. Doors have 6 moulded
recessed panels, boot scrapers on approach steps. Basements
lit by 5x4 paned segment-headed sash windows with cover
grilles. Stucco string between floors, hipped roof with broad
eaves, central stack. N end, (No.1) has slated lean-to,
secondary but similar brick with single segment headed sash
window. Rear E elevation: 4 window range similar to front
except outer first floor windows deep, 3x6 panes. Second stack
through roof pitch. Ground floor additions, No.1, lean-to with
fully glazed C20 door and adjacent C20 single light casement
window, similar window on adjacent S face. No.2, addition
gabled with C20 2-light casement window 2x4 panes, adjacent S
face, C20 door with upper glazing 3x3 panes, 2 lower panels.
Small C20 single-light casement window in house wall to S. Two
3x4 paned sash windows between C20 additions. S end elevation:
plain except for pair of large recessed panels in brickwork
and small C20 first floor casement window. N end elevation:
similar panels as on S end, now partly covered by C19 lean-to
with slate and, now, corrugated iron roof. Lean-to meets
garden wall to street, flint cobble but with W end rebuilt in
gault brick and C19 flush panelled doorway inserted with gault
brick surround.
INTERIOR: plain except that No.2 still has marble chimney
piece in ground floor front room.
