Leeds-Liverpool Canal Company warehouses, and office, with attached
house, 1801-2. Coursed sandstone, roof of slates and corrugated sheet.
L-shaped plan. Warehouse facing wharf is of 8 bays (7th and 8th later
additions), 2 storeys, with opposed wide double-tier loading doors
in 3rd bay, similar but smaller doors in 8th bay, otherwise 3-light
windows to both floors (most with flush stone mullions). Left return
wall has large blocked archway to upper floor, and 2-bay house which
continues this range has square windows. Attached at left corner
of warehouse is small square 2-storey office with pyramidal roof and
external steps to upper room. (Item forms group with stable block
on opposite side of canal, q.v.).
