Early/mid C18 house, now a museum. Painted brick with stone dressings and hipped plain tile roof. Brick end stacks. Heavy moulded eaves cornice. Chamfered quoins. Symmetrical three-storey, five-bay frontage, sashes in flush frames; glazing bars except to ground floor windows. Central semi-circular headed door opening, plain door under arched fanlight. Triangular pediment on console brackets.

Interior: contemporary staircase and pilastered door architraves.

Abraham Darby II lived here, but probably begun by Abraham Darby I and not finished until after his death.
