Town house. C18. Incised stucco on studwork; steep
bitumen-grouted rag slate roof with moulded eaves cornice; C18
hipped roof dormer with moulded eaves cornice, brick stack on
right, rubble stack on left. L-shaped plan including rear
wing. 3 storeys; 4-window range. Mid/late C19 two-pane
hornless sashes within moulded architraves to 2nd floor; C20
windows to 1st floor. Ground floor has 2 late C20 shop fronts.
Rear right-hand side of wing of No.16 has 1 early C18
eight-pane casement to 2-light window and an early C19 24-pane
hornless sash, otherwise later 4-pane hornless sashes.
INTERIOR: No.16 has wide C18 dogleg closed-string staircase
with column-turned balusters; some C18 plank and muntin
partitions; C18 moulded ceiling cornices to left-hand
chambers; two 2-panel doors; a segmental arch to 1st-floor
passage fronting a closet, original roof structure with pegged
dovetail-jointed collars. Rear wing has late C19 scissor-truss
roof structure.
