Six terraced houses. c.1829. Brown stock bricks set in Flemish
bond with banded stucco ground-floor and dressings; gabled
roofing material obscured by blocking course; brick party-wall
stacks. Side-hall entrance plan. Three storeys; 2 windows
each. Symmetrical terrace with full-height stucco Ionic
pilasters to upper storeys of slightly projecting end houses.
Steps rise to entrance (nos. 82-86 to left; nos. 78-80 to
right; & no. 76 to Gainford Street side); doorway with 1/2
fluted column jambs carrying corniced-head, original
6-panelled door and elaborate patterned fanlight. Ground-floor
6/6 sashes with curved and radial glazing bars (except no. 76
1/1 plain sashes & no. 78 2/2 plain sashes). 1st floor stucco
sill band beneath full-length architraved 6/6 sashes with
consoled cornices; coupled balconies with iron railings in the
Vitruvian scroll and anthemion pattern. 2nd floor centre block
with stucco sill band and gauged brick flat arches to 6/6
sashes (no. 76 with C20 2/2 casements). Stucco cornice and
blocking course. Attached iron railings with ball and disc
finials.
