Pair of town houses with 2 later shops. Mid C18. Render on
rubble to front; rubble, partly painted, to rear; steep
scantle slate roof; rendered end stacks. Double-depth plan
including rear wing at right-angles. 2 storeys; 4-window
range. 2nd-from-left window is original horizontal-sliding
sash with thick glazing bars surviving to its right; other
windows are late C19 horned sashes including canted oriel with
polygonal slate roof and ball finial on the left. Ground floor
has small 2-light shop window in original opening on the left;
doorway, with C20 door under 2nd window and C20 altered late
C19 or early C20 double shopfront with end pilasters to No.46
on right. Rear of No.44 has original first-floor window with
thick glazing bars to right-hand light. INTERIOR: No.44 has
rare C18 chinoiserie staircase and original ceiling joists to
rear room, otherwise not inspected.
